 La Cinquième Couche est une maison d'édition belge indépendante. La Cinquième Couche, dite aussi 5c, publie de la bande dessinée pointue, du graphisme, de la littérature et de la poésie, depuis 1993. Elle a joué un rôle important dans le développement de la "nouvelle bande dessinée", au début des années 1990. Redéfinissant sans cesse son média, elle inscrit la bande dessinée dans les pratiques contemporaines ("Tout ce qui frôle la bande dessinée et tend à l'en éloigner intéresse la 5e Couche", extrait du catalogue). Depuis 2010, elle republie également la revue "Soldes, Fins de Séries", de Marc Borgers et Jean-Louis Sbille (cf.Ruptz). Elle aurait été l'éditeur de la Bande dessinée Katz, détournement controversé de Maus, de Art Spiegelman, dans lequel l'auteur anonyme (Ilan Manouach) avait remplacé toutes les têtes des différentes espèces représentées par des têtes de chats1.Fondée par un groupe d'auteurs de l'atelier de bande dessinée de l'Institut Saint-Luc de Bruxelles (Damien Rocour, Sarah Masson, Michel Squarci, Sibylle Loof, Olivier Fable, Vincent Dutreuil, Nicholas Wood, Sébastien Kempenaars, Christophe Poot, Renaud De Heyn et Xavier Löwenthal), elle demeure jusqu'à la fin des années 1990, un groupe informel qui auto-publie ses productions. Ce n'est qu'au tournant des années 2000 qu'elle devient une réelle structure d'édition. Elle est actuellement dirigée par William Henne, Xavier Löwenthal et Jo Radoux. Notre production de livres évolue au fil des envies, des expériences, des énergies et des rencontres. Notre ligne éditoriale se situe dans ce que l’on appelle couramment la BD indépendante. Les divers genres de nos publications vont du récit intimiste, aux histoires d’aventure, en passant par le suspens et parfois l’érotique. Nous donnons une attention particulière à l’épaisseur des récits, à leurs qualités narratives.L’employé du Moi is a structure of comic strips publishing created in Brussels in 2000. Its purpose is to publish remarkable stories personally invested as well in the graphic processing as in the tale. The publications of “L’employé du Moi” are developed in close co-operation with the authors in order to stick as much as possible to their artistic intentions (book format, choice of the paper). Amongst the various approached types, you find intimate story as well as nightmare scenario. Beyond the paper edition, “L’employé du Moi” strives to promote comic strips creation via the site “Grandpapier.org” , an international platform of on-line publication.  Le FRMK (prononcez Frémok) est une maison d'édition de bande dessinée née de la fusion le 22 juin 2002 de l'association belge Fréon (créée par Thierry Van Hasselt, Vincent Fortemps, Olivier Deprez et Denis Deprez) et de l'éditeur français Amok (dont la figure de proue est Yvan Alagbé). Les bureaux du FRMK sont donc situés à Bruxelles.Cet éditeur représente l'avant-garde en matière de bande dessinée. Les livres édités sont peu nombreux, mais très luxueux, et d'une rare exigence éditoriale et conceptuelle. Mêlant écrit, graphisme, le FRMK est le lieu de toutes les expériences, véritable carrefour créatif, et pont de la figuration narrative vers l'art contemporain, la peinture ou la danse (Brutalis de Thierry Van Hasselt), le FRMK a également traduit les bandes dessinées philosophiques de Martin Tom Dieck (Salut, Deleuze !1) et réédité Lycaons d'Alex Barbier, pionnier de la couleur directe, et d'une approche picturale du médium dont le FRMK se fait l'écho.  Fondée en 1780, la maison Casterman a intégré le monde de la bande dessinée dans les années 1930 en éditant les albums de Tintin. Aujourd’hui, grâce à des valeurs-clés comme l’innovation et la créativité, elle continue d’y occuper une place privilégiée.Depuis la publication du premier album de Tintin qui est toujours le fleuron de son prestigieux catalogue, la maison Casterman reste fidèle à la même démarche: mettre à la portée de tous des oeuvres de qualité. C’est dans cet esprit qu’elle souhaite faire découvrir ses auteurs phares au public, tant la génération (A SUIVRE) avec Tardi, Pratt, Geluck, Schuiten et Peeters ou Comès, que celle, plus récente, des Art Spiegelman, Jirô Taniguchi ou autres Craig Thompson. A côté de cette politique éditoriale d’auteurs, Casterman développe également un catalogue important dans le domaine de la Jeunesse sous le label Casterman. Les Editions Casterman représentent un poids notable sur le marché de la bande dessinée, tout en menant une politique volontairement sélective de production: moins de 100 nouveautés par an sur près de 3.000 nouveautés pour l’ensemble des éditeurs. En regard de cette proportion, près d’une bande dessinée sur 7 vendues dans la francophonie est un album Casterman.  Dargaud est une maison d'édition spécialisée dans la bande dessinée fondée par Georges Dargaud en 1936. En 2010, elle fait partie du groupe Média-Participations.En 1960, Dargaud rachète l'hebdomadaire Pilote – créé l'année précédente par Jean-Michel Charlier, René Goscinny, Albert Uderzo avec le soutien de Radio Luxembourg. Parallèlement au succès de la presse et dès 1961, Dargaud se lance dans la production d’albums lentement d’abord, puis de manière plus intensive. C'est l'âge d'or de la bande dessinée et de Pilote qui rassemble tous les talents. Espace Livres & Création (EL&C) is a publishers association based in Brussels. Established in 1990, it represents 50 small independent Belgian publishing houses and periodicals. The membership is diverse and includes publishers from a variety of genres (poetry, literature, arts, human sciences, graphic novels). El&C promotes independent and creative publishing and acts as an intermediary between its members, cultural institutions, libraries and bookshops. It provides representation at book fairs and support to distribution through its own network in Belgium. These fundamental works touch the applied research. The Foundation publishes the articles and researches in relation to Maurice Carême’s work and his life, holds poetry expositions, sponsors much of the Prizes in the name of Maurice Carême, and also provides the academic thesis and dissertations with documents and materials. The Foundation publishes an annual review with articles on Maurice Carême’s works, extracts of his poems, information and list of available works. Participation to the Friends of Maurice Carême is as a donation requested to cover the transmitting costs. The Maurice Carême Foundation is the only owner of edition rights. |

| Fonds Mercator is a publisher of books on fine art and illustrated historical studies. Up to now, Fonds Mercator has published some 200 titles, with a world-wide print run of over one million copies. Most of them are distributed in at least two or three languages (French, Dutch, English). The most successful of the publications still in print include monographs on Flemish and Belgian artists of international renown. Moreover, the fund also has more general works on history and culture: outlines of Flemish art, Belgian painting in the 19th and early 20th century or after the Second World War, books devoted to cities such as Antwerp, Ghent or Bruges, historical studies on Luxembourg, the Low Countries, Saint Francis and Saint Benedict. The independent French publisher l’école des loisirs decides to create an editorial office Pastel in Belgium with an object to diversify its collections. Pastel has been directed by Odile Josselin since 2008. The catalogue includes more than 600 titles, 80 % of them are original creations and more than 60 authors are of Belgian origin, particularly Jeanne Ashbé, Kitty Crowther (the grand triennial Award of French Community in 2006 and Award of Astrid Lindgren in 2010), Claude K. Dubois, Émile Jadoul, Louis Joos, Jean Maubille, Mario Ramos, Rascal (the grand triennial Award of French Community in 2009), and Michel Van Zeveren. The editorial policy of Pastel insists on the quality of literary and graphic as it can be complimentary to the l’école des loisirs collections in respect to children readers. The various universe of authors and illustrators and the world seen through their eyes are appreciated within different foreign countries where the works are published. |
